The Sennheiser Group is a leading manufacturer of microphones, headphones and wireless transmission systems, employing more than 2,100 people worldwide, with manufacturing plants in Germany, Ireland and the USA. The Tullamore plant in Ireland’s main production is focussed upon headphone assembly and manufacture of loudspeakers. The site was keen to investigate and improve their environmental performance and reduce their costs and contacted greenbusiness to help them identify opportunities to be more resource efficient.

Improving Resource Efficiency at Sennheiser Consumer Electronics

The company is proactive environmentally and has already carried out a number of measures to reduce its environmental impact, for example, the premises are fitted with efficient T5 fluorescent lighting almost throughout, the walls are painted in light shades to maximise reflected light, reusable transit crates are used for packing components, and cardboard waste is baled for recycling.

This Resource Efficiency Opportunity assessment outlines the potential benefits to Sennheiser Consumer Electronics of using Greenbusiness to help manage resources more efficiently. The site visit identified a range of recommendations with good associated potential benefits, including yotal cost savings of over €10,000 per year
