The company is a small family-run food company and is best known for its stuffing and breadcrumbs but also makes desserts, burritos, party food and toppings for the retail sector and food service sector. The company has won several international awards and various local awards including "Irish Small Business of the Year" and "Outstanding Irish Business".

The company is proactive environmentally and has already done a number of things to limit its environmental impact through lightweighting its aluminium trays and carefully segregating most of its packaging waste (mostly card and plastic film) for recycling. The company is working towards a carbon neutral footprint and has therefore planted 22 acres of forestry with Sitka Spruce and Oak trees near the plant.

The site visit identified a range of recommendations with good associated potential benefits, including:

• Cost savings in excess of €50,000 per year
• Reductions in packaging and product wastage on the shop floor
• Improvements to primary pack design, including more compact shape, light-weighting and use of recycled content and related improvements to transport efficiencies
• Introduction of returnable transit packaging to reduce supply costs and waste to landfill
• Reductions in energy use by improving controls on equipment, including voltage optimisation, power factor correction, variable speed motor drives and timer/PLC controls
• Introduction of more energy efficient lighting
• Diversion of food waste to composting and/or animal feed
• Reduced staff water use.
